There are almost 500 homeless people in Saskatoon.
It’s hoped a new website introduced by Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership will help reduce that number.
On April 18th, a Point-In-Time homelessness count showed there were 437 adults and 37 youth and children who were homeless that night, and the majority were either chronically or episodically homeless.
Executive Director of SHIP, Shaun Dyck, says the website www.saskatoonhomelessness.ca is a hub for those looking for services, for those wanting to educated themselves on the issue and for those trying to figure out how they can help.
During the Point-In-Time count, SHIP heard that people needing help often go to the library to look up where to get services.
There are public computers at the library, so it’s hoped those that need it will access the website from there.
