Saskatoon Police have three people in custody after two chases. The first was at nine o’clock last night (wed), when officers spotted an unregistered BMW on 105th Street. When the suspect started driving at a high rate of speed, the Air Support Unit was called in to track it. The vehicle left the city heading out on Highway 5, then onto gravel roads, and eventually hitting the ditch where it got stuck. The driver ran off and the ASU guided officers to where he was hiding in the brush. A 43 year old Saskatoon man was taken into custody. He also has outstanding warrants from Rosetown, Swift Current and Prince Albert.
At 4: 15 this morning, patrol officers noticed a suspicious vehicle at Avenue I and Howell Avenue. They confirmed it was stolen and had the wrong licence plate on it. The driver refused to stop and the Air Support Unit was called in to keep an eye on the vehicle. It headed towards Highway 16, driving through a farm yard, and then got stuck in a ditch. Air Support guided officers to two people who ran off. A 26 year old man from Marengo and a 24 year old Saskatoon woman were arrested. Officers allegedly located inside the vehicle, a shotgun, crystal, meth, Ritalin, cannabis, a scale and a variety of vehicle keys.
