The balance between sales and listings for housing markets in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Newfoundland indicates a weak pricing environment for homeowners looking to sell. That’s according to the Canadian Real Estate Association as it looks at home sales between September and October. Across the prairies benchmark home prices remained below year-ago levels; in Regina they were down 3.6 per cent and in Saskatoon they were down 0.9 per cent.
The actual national average price for homes sold in October was just under $496,800 down 1.5 per cent from the same month a year ago. That’s heavily skewed by Vancouver and the Greater Toronto Area. Excluding those markets brings the average price down to $383 thousand.
