All three U Sports Football Players of the Week from last week will be involved in just one of the two national semi-final games this Saturday.
Two of those players saluted are from the Canada West Conference-champion U of S Huskies. Running back Tyler Chow was the offensive star for his 222 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the Dogs won the Hardy Cup in Calgary. Meanwhile, kicker Sean Stenger copped the national Special Teams honour, posting 13 points on five converts, two field goals and a pair of singles as Saskatchewan bounced the Dinos 43-18.
The Defensive player-of-the-week is Western linebacker Fraser Sopik. He was credited with eight-and-a-half tackles…seven of them of the solo variety…to help pace the unbeaten Mustangs to an Ontario Conference final victory over Guelph.
The Huskies visit London, Ontario and Western on Saturday in the Mitchell Bowl. Game time is 3 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 2. Following is the news release from U Sports…..
