Cort Dogniez, a Metis education consultant with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools has received a national indigenous educator award. The division says his vision has been for Indigenous students to have an environment where they can be proud of their heritage and culture, and for non-indigenous students to know and understand the histories, cultures, contexts and struggles of Indigenous peoples. Dogniez has also conducted workshops for teachers, giving them the resources and knowledge needed to integrate treaty education in their classrooms. Dogniez is the third recipient of the Indspire (sic) award since their inception in 2013.
