The upcoming performance from the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra will be about celebrating composers from the World War l era. One of the composers, Maurice Ravel dedicated some of his work to his friends who died in the war. Eric Paetkau, music director with the SSO says Saturday’s performance will have songs filled with both joy and sadness. The performance titled We Will Remember was chosen given that this year happens to be 100th anniversary of the end of the first World War. The program will start off with a song called Flanders Field Reflections and Paetkau says the song is very compelling in terms of the various sounds that are heard. In one movement there’s a violin solo which is like a bird says Paetkau. Then in another part of the song the sound of bombs come in. Paetkau adds it’s a contrast between beauty and horror. The show starts at 7:30 Saturday evening at TCU Place. To buy tickets: https://tcutickets.ca/Online/mapSelect.asp
