Counterfeit $50 and $100 bills are floating around the Battlefords. RCMP say they have received several complaints from businesses. In one case, two males tried to purchase inexpensive items at businesses with large denomination bills. Employees noticed the poor quality counterfeits before the transactions were completed. In another case, a First Nations female bought fuel with a fake $50 bill before staff realized it was phony. Police were looking for two white males in connection to the counterfeit cash and say thanks to the public, they have tracked down one suspect. A 64 year old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon allegedly trying to pass two-$100 bills at a local business. Charges are pending and the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Police note the discolouring and the fact that the serial numbers are the same on both bills.
