A spokesperson for the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers says they want the Prison Needle Exchange Program to be introduced in January permanently suspended.
Protests against the Correctional Service of Canada program were held across the country, including outside of Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale’s Regina office.
John Lambiris says this has upset officers because they weren’t consulted first.
A statement from Goodale office says they’re concerned about the health and safety of all, including federal inmates. (CKRM)
