It’s my Parting Shot for a couple of Short C-F-L/Riders’ Shots…
Just when I had come to grips with Odell Willis receiving a fine from the C-F-L for his head shot on Green and White quarterback Zach Collaros last weekend, the former mayor of “Swaggerville” indicted himself. Early yesterday, Willis took to Twitter to express his displeasure with being fined the maximum amount based on his salary, quoting league commissioner Randy Ambrosie’s Twitter handle and adding that he led with his shoulder on the hit and got fined the maximum…concluding that if he’s only going to get fined the maximum, next time he will lead with his head. Odell Willis should thank his lucky stars that he gets to play tomorrow against Calgary. For that tweet, no matter whether he apologized or not, he should be suspended for the rest of the season…without pay! Period!!
Tomorrow’s season-ending Calgary at B-C game has sparked a lot of debate in RiderNation. A Lions’ win means the Green and White finish first in the West and get a bye into the West Division final. Many fans don’t like the idea of Saskatchewan being idle for three weeks, that the Roughriders need the Stampeders to win tomorrow and finish first so that the first home playoff game for the Riders is the semi-final next weekend against Winnipeg…that way there isn’t nearly as much rust on the Green and White as there would be if their first game since October 27th was on November 18th. I don’t know about you, but three weeks off to rest up and heal up sounds heavenly. Besides, I’d rather win just once, not twice, to make it into the Grey Cup…99 times out of 100!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
