The restaurant fire late last night at 1418 Central Avenue was caused by boxes and paper being ignited by mechanical components of a heater on top of a walk-in cooler. That’s the conclusion from the Saskatoon Fire Department and the initial damage estimate is $80-thousand.
Just before 11:30 last night (Mon), the Saskatoon Fire Department responded and found smoke coming from the building and roof in the north end of the strip mall.
Crews were able to get inside and attack the fire, keeping the fire from spreading to the rest of the businesses in the mall.
