Saskatoon Hilltops running back Josh Ewanchyna was named offensive player of the week for his 163 yard ground game with three touchdowns. The third-year man from Holy Cross was the Toppers main offensive weapon in Sunday’s 28-9 victory over the Edmonton Huskies in the Prairie Football Conference final.
Ewanchyna has won five of the last six offensive player of the week awards while Saskatoon quarterback Jordan Walls took the other for his 473 yard areal attack in the conference semifinal against Winnipeg.
Nose Tackle Garth Knittig was named defensive player of the week for his seven solo tackles and dominance in the trenches.
Meanwhile, linebacker Adam Benkic made four special teams tackles to be win that weekly honour.
The Hilltops will host the Canadian Bowl Nov. 17 vs either Hamilton or Langley who meet in the CJFL semi-final this weekend in B-C.
The Toppers are going for a record fifth consecutive Canadian championship.
