A public inquest into the death of Traigo Andretti begins today (mon) in Saskatoon at the Court of Queen’s Bench. The first day of the inquest is scheduled to start for 10 a.m. Andretti was found unresponsive in his cell at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon on July 2nd, 2016. Medical personnel responded and performed CPR however Andretti was pronounced dead. Section 20 of The Coroners Act states the chief coroner shall hold an inquest into the death of a person who dies while an inmate at a jail or correctional facility, unless the coroner is satisfied the person died of natural causes and the death was not preventable.
The public inquest will run until Friday.
