This fall, almost a year ahead of schedule, the overpass project at Martensville and Warman will be open to traffic.
There are still finishing touches which will happen during the next construction season including lighting, signage and landscaping.
The provincial government says opening of the overpasses allows drivers to safely travel over the highway on a bridge and provides safer access onto the highway in both directions.
The Highway 11 portion of the project near Warman includes a new two-lane overpass for Highway 305, on and off ramps, and about 5 kilometres of four-lane divided highway.
There are also improvements to the rail crossing and safety upgrades at the Highway 11 and Ferry Road/Central Street intersection.
The Highway 12 portion includes construction of about 3 kilometres of new four-lane divided roadway for Highway 12 at Martensville and the new two-land overpass for Township Road 384 with on and off ramps.
The improvements also include the reconfiguration of the Centennial Drive and Main Street intersection and a Highway 12 exit ramp and signalized intersection at Centennial and Fourth Street. It’s an over $60-million project.
