The two new, full-time Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction Teams are now fully operational, conducting targeted enforcement in areas that have been identified as crime hot spots.
Both teams were recently deployed in the North Battleford area which resulted in 27 arrests, 25 Criminal Code charges and 44 traffic stops.
Saskatchewan RCMP say one team is based in North Battleford and the other in Prince Albert, but they are prepared to deploy wherever they are most needed.
This began last year when the RCMP began conducting targeted enforcement to assist detachment in addressing serious and violent crime, and the positive results led to a 3-month trial run of the Crime Reduction Teams, or CRTs, which led to the decision to establish the teams full time.
