The 6th annual Fright Night Fashion Gala tonight in Saskatoon will include inspirational stories about courageous people who became organ donors. The event for the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Saskatchewan branch raises funds for people in the province with kidney disease and for research. Honoured guests include Toby and Bernadine Boulet. Their son Logan was one of the players who died in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. He decided to become an organ donor just weeks before the accident and his story has inspired about 100,000 Canadians to follow his example. The daughter of Hockey Night in Canada’s Don Cherry will also tell her story. Cindy Cherry donated a kidney to her brother when her dad was coaching the Boston Bruins in the 1970’s. The Halloween themed event features costumes from local designers. Kidney Foundation statistics indicate about 80-percent of the 4,500 Canadians waiting for transplants need kidneys.
