The city begins its fall sweeping program today (mon) on streets with a dense tree canopy. That would be the neighbourhoods of Buena Vista, Caswell Hill, City Park, Holiday Park, King George, Mayfair, Nutana, Riversdale and Varsity View. Crews will be collecting leaves that can block catch basins. There will be No Parking signs in advance of the sweepers. Leading off will be streets in City Park and Varsity View. Any vehicle on a street at 8 a.m. will get a ticket and be relocated.
The first eight days of the program will have sweepers in all nine neighbourhoods. On October 25th, staff will take a week to finish winter operation preparations. As long as crews aren’t cleaning up snow, leaf removal operations will resume on skipped roads in the same neighbourhoods using different equipment, going around parked vehicles.
