The city’s governance and priorities committee will consider a report today (mon) that has examined alternative routes for bus-only lanes based on the principles around bus rapid transit. The report says the option of having bus-only lanes on First Avenue instead of Third Avenue is viable. Although the report says given the steep incline of Victoria Avenue, that road would not be a reasonable option over Broadway Avenue. The proposal made earlier this year is that Third Avenue, College Drive and Broadway Avenue along the Broadway Business District be the only roads that have bus-only lanes. A recommendation of the bus-only lanes is expected to come forward sometime in early 2019. Today’s meeting gets underway at 1 p.m. at City Hall.
