I talked yesterday about slowing down a bit as you get older, including driving. There are some benefits to being an aging baby boomer that the younger generation may not realize. One is that my joints become more accurate forecasters of the weather than any of the three weather apps on my smartphone. I can have a party and my neighbours don’t even realize it. An all-nighter means I didn’t have to get up to go to the bathroom. I no longer think of speed limits and amber lights as a challenge (oops….there’s that speed thing again). Getting lucky means I found my car in the parking lot. I don’t try and hide away for a week after a bad haircut (and Val, if you’re listening, I know you never give me a bad haircut). Someone who calls me at 9am on a weekend usually asks, “Did I wake you”? I shop more carefully because things I buy now may never wear out. My supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size. Secrets my friends tell me are safe because half the time I won’t remember them. I’ve stopped dwelling on the past and only look to the future because that’s where I’m going to spend the rest of my life. And one more…….umm……that’s funny, I can’t remember what it is.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
