Saskatoon is the host of two conferences this week.
Today (tues) the Arctic Division meeting of American Association for the Advancement of Science is holding their meeting while starting today (tues) and running until Friday is the 30th Annual Canadian Rural Revitalization Conference.
Sarah Breen of the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation says rural broadband access will be a key topic at the annual conference.
She says its been a concern brought up over the last little while at other meetings including the Federation of the Canadian Municipalities Conference.
Breen says people from all over including the prairies and Atlantic Canada say rural cell coverage continues to be an issue whether it’s for safety purposes or for basic communication.
In her personal experience, Breen says living in the mountains in B.C., she can’t go far out of town before she loses cell coverage.
