Shortly after 8:30 Monday morning, a person called the Saskatoon Police Communications Centre.
The male caller identified himself and said he was holding two people hostage at home on Lucyk Crescent.
The caller then went on to say he had shot one of the hostages in the knee, demanded a ransom and that he was equipped with firearms and explosives.
Police and Medavie Health Services responded.
A short time later officers determined the call was a hoax and that the residents inside the home on Lucyk Crescent were not involved in any way.
Police then located a man at another home in the city, whose name was used by the caller however that man was also not involved.
Police were able to clear the scene by 9:35 a.m. and the investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or Crime Stoppers.
