Canpotex kicked off the Hunger Action Month Challenge by pledging to match up to $50,000 in support of the Milk for Children Program. The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre campaign generated $47,000 which brings the total raised to $97,000.
Laurie O’Connor, Food Bank Executive Director says this is a huge boost to their Milk for Children Program and means that about two-thirds of the entire year’s program is covered with that donation.
She also notes that until they had a partner behind them who would match dollar for dollar, they weren’t getting much traction.
Of the nearly 20,000 people who rely on the food bank each month, nearly half are children and this campaign provides every child with a litre of fresh milk at every visit.
