This is the first time a bridge between the Sid Buckwold Bridge and Broadway Bridge has been open since 2010.
The new Traffic Bridge opened to the public Tuesday following more than two years of construction.
Many local residents in the Nutana area are quite pleased, both with having a new bridge to use and how the new structure looks.
There was an opening party on the bridge. With the shot of a canon and the sound of the Prairie Lily’s horn, the Bridge opened with residents from the downtown side meeting in the middle with residents from the Nutana side.
City of Saskatoon Archivist, Jeff O’Brien says the opening of the new bridge is good news for residents who live nearby as approximately 11 thousand vehicles will use the bridge everyday and will provide residents another way to get from one side of the river to the other.
The Traffic Bridge is one of two bridges that opened in Saskatoon yesterday (Tues), the other being the Chief Mistawasis Bridge connecting the city’s newer eastside communities with the north industrial area.
