Overnight parking tickets seem to be on the rise. At last week’s City Council meeting, many councillors said they’ve received complaints of residents receiving tickets for a vehicle with a trailer attached on the street with the tickets being issued in the early morning hours between 2 and 3 a.m. Mayor Charlie Clark said a formal inquiry would take place later in the council meeting however with the way the meeting went on, by time a formal inquiry was held many councillors were absent. A formal inquiry will likely take place at the next City Council meeting. Councillor Davis said that either something has changed or bylaw inspectors are going around handing out tickets early in the morning. The city’s general manager for community services, Randy Grauer said that the bylaw hasn’t changed and that enforcement is typically driven by complaints. Councillors Davies, Donauer and Jefferies have all reported having received complaints over the last couple of months.
