According to the group, “Canadians for Clean Prosperity,” having a carbon tax in Saskatchewan would actually put money in the pockets of most households, if the federal government brings in carbon dividends in this province. Executive Director Mark Cameron says, “If the federal government returns all carbon revenues on an equal per capita basis, almost all households, regardless of family size or income level, will come out ahead, and the lowest income households will benefit the most.” The plan from the feds, at this point, is to impose a carbon tax in Saskatchewan of $20 per tonne in January and rising to $50 per tonne by 2022. According to a study commission by the environmental group, an average family in this province would pay $467 but receive $1,567 back.
