Today’s (mon) city council meeting will be a busy one with council set to decide on whether or not to endorse the “Pay as you Throw” garbage collection system which would see resident’s fees be based on the size of garbage bin they decide to have and all single family homes would then receive a green organics bin for yard and food waste. Other topics of interest include discussion of the speed limit for the new Chief Mistawasis Bridge. At last month’s meeting a motion to make the speed limit of 60 kph over the new bridge was defeated and now the recommendation from city administration is that a speed limit of 70 kph be established. Council will also discuss to whether or not to give the okay to prepare and issue a request for proposal seeking a proponent that will develop and maintain a 6 day a week market in the current Farmers’ Market Building at River Landing.
Today’s meeting gets underway at 1 p.m. at City Hall.
