The number of Grade 3 students reading at or above grade level is continuing to rise across Saskatchewan.
Data from school divisions in 2018 show that 75 per cent of Grade 3 students are now reading at or above grade level, that’s a 10 per cent increase from 2013 when 65 per cent of Grade 3 students were reading at or above their grade level.
The increase is approximately 1200 more students compared to 5 years ago who are reading at or above their grade level.
Research suggests that students who read at grade level by Grade 3 are more likely to continue reading at their grade level and are more likely to graduate from high school.
