The latest play at the Backstage Stage of Persephone Theatre was written by one of America’s best contemporary female playwrights, Pulitzer Prize winner, Annie Baker.
Director of The Alien, Joshua Beaudry, says it’s a comedy but with touching moments.
The audience is very close to the performance area at the Backstage theatre, so Beaudry says the lines between audience and performer are blurred, meaning it’s more like you are actually there on the back alley patio drinking coffee with the characters.
It’s about two men in their 30s who are dropouts.
They befriend a teen and mentor him with their philosophical musings and magic mushroom tea.
If you want to see it, you have until Sunday with tickets available through Persephone’s website or at the box office.
