The Saskatoon Police Service Race against Racism is meant to promote a healthy lifestyle while breaking down the barriers that may exist between cultures. The eighth annual edition of the event is slated for tomorrow (Sat) at Victoria Park. Derek Chesney of the service’s Culture Relations Unit says the fun run is a way to show despite the cultural differences, there are many similarities between people from various ethnic backgrounds. Participants can walk or run 2.5, 5 or 10 kilometres with a Cultural Expo to follow featuring ethnic displays and activities. Those who take part or watch the event are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to “Cram the Cruiser” for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre. The run starts at 10 a.m. with the cultural celebration slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
