There has been a dramatic drop in investment in new housing construction in Saskatchewan. Statistics Canada says investment fell off 26.4 per cent in July when compared to July of last year. There were four other provinces that experienced declines but nothing as remarkable as ours. In fact, the national average was a rise of 1.7 per cent. The biggest drop in Saskatchewan was nearly $27 million in the single houses category. Semi-detached houses fell about $1 million and row houses fell about $2.6 million. Apartment investment rose about $3 million. Total investment in new housing construction in the province ended up at $76.5 million in July.
