In the last few weeks, there have been reports of ATM thefts and attempted thefts in a few different communities including Lumsden, Whitewood and Saskatoon and now Nipawin RCMP are investigating two separate incidents in Choiceland and White Fox a few days apart, and have pictures from security footage indicating it may be the same suspect in both.
On September 13th, officers responded to an alarm from a financial institution in Choiceland and noticed extensive damage to the exterior and an abandoned vehicle, which was later discovered to have been stolen from a neighbouring business.
Security footage shows the vehicle ramming into the side of the building and then a male suspect enters the lobby.
He tries to damage the ATM, but then takes off on foot without getting anything.
Then, last Sunday RCMP were dispatched to an alarm at a bank in White Fox and found the exterior and interior had been damaged and the ATM was gone.
Security video shows a white Dodge truck, which was later discovered to have been stolen from a Nipawin dealership, backing into the lobby of the building and a suspect securing the ATM to the truck and taking off.
The description of the suspect in both is similar. He was wearing a light coloured sweater with a small logo on the upper left in the front.
He had his hood up and his face was partially covered.
The stolen vehicle is a 2018 white Dodge Ram with Saskatchewan license plate 819 KXE.
