It’s my Parting Shot for some Tuesday Tidbits…
The panic button doesn’t get hit quite as hard in Winnipeg as it does in Saskatchewan when the Blue Bombers lose games their fan base thinks they should win. But, it comes close!! And, the nay-sayers will be out in the Manitoba capital following Sunday’s 31-23 loss to the Roughriders in Regina…a game Winnipeg should’ve won. They dominated on offence in the first half then, for some unexplained reason, went away from what was working in the second half! We’ll see what happens in Saturday’s Banjo Bowl, because the reactions by the respective fan bases could, and likely will, take a 180-degree turn…as they usually do!
Quite a weekend for Saskatoon sports teams that this radio company covers with play-by-play action!
On Friday, the U of S Huskies laid a whipping on visiting Alberta. While 42-0 is nice, remember that the Dogs won their first two games last year, only to lose the last six. There’s a long ways to go!
On Sunday, the Saskatoon Hilltops did as expected, molly-whopping the Rifles 38-8 in Winnipeg. The Toppers are the only undefeated team in the Prairie Football Conference. Yes, this could be a recording!
What isn’t a recording is that the Saskatoon Blades won their first three W-H-L pre-season games Thursday through Saturday. It’s only pre-season, but there’s a lot to like with the Bridge City Bunch so far…but there’s also a long ways to go for the Blue and Gold!
After all, it’s only the first week of September!!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
