Over the next few nights, crews will be resurfacing sections of Idylwyld Drive South between Circle Drive South and 8th Street. Lane restrictions will be in place on Idylwyld and some adjoining access and exit ramps will be closed. Detour signs will be in place well ahead of the construction zones. The project is being completed overnight when traffic volumes are lighter. Night work will start after 7 p.m. with roadways reopening before 7 a.m. the next day, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Work Zones:
Tuesday night: southbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive will be restricted south of Ruth Street. The Lorne Avenue ramp to Idylwyld Drive will be closed.
Wednesday night: all lanes on Idylwyld Drive will have some restrictions south of Ruth Street. Lorne Avenue, Ruth Street and Adelaide Street ramps will be closed.
Thursday night: all lanes of Idylwyld Drive will have some restriction at Ruth Street. Taylor Street and Ruth Street ramps will be closed.
Saturday and Sunday night: northbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive will have lane restrictions from Circle Drive South to Taylor Street.
Police will be on site to increase visibility and safety around the work zones. Signs will be in place advising drivers of the upcoming road restrictions and reminding them to reduce speeds to 60 km/hr in the work zone. Speed reductions are put in place for the safety of the workers and the road users. Fines for speeding in a work zone have increased to $440 for driving 20 km/hr over the speed limit and $1,008 when speeds reach 40 km/hr over the speed limit.
