Apartment Fire
Saskatoon’s Fire Department received multiple 911 calls around 9:30 last night (weds) about an apartment fire at 315 Avenue H South. When crews arrived, heavy smoke was streaming from the suite that was involved – it was on the second floor. The fire was quickly contained and brought under control and no one was in the suite but other fire crews answering the call evacuated those in adjoining suites. The Fire investigator is ruling the blaze as incendiary and says it started on the stove with damage estimated at 30-thousand dollars.
Mobile Home Fire
There was a mobile home fire on Grant Street in the Sutherland area at 7:30 this morning (thurs). When fire crews arrived they were greeted by heavy smoke and another crew was called in to operate a back up line and protect those first on scene. The fire was quickly brought under control and the one person living in the mobile home did manage to evacuate before fire crews arrived. The fire investigator has determined the cause of the fire was accidental due to unattended cooking and estimates the damage at $30,000.
