Here’s a new scam. Saskatoon Police say they are getting complaints from people being contacted by email or text from someone pretending to be their boss or employer. They are told to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of iTunes gift cards or another business related expenses. Some respond to the email or text to verify the request but the account is compromised so they receive confirmation that the request is legitimate. Police say if you get one of these, you should phone your employer directly to verify the request.
