A 24 year old man is facing charges following a disturbance inside Real Canadian Superstore on 8th Street East where a police officer was injured.
Saskatoon Police were called to the store just after 1 on Thursday afternoon, responding to someone shouting threats and causing a disturbance.
The first officer arrived and the man with a knife charged at him and struck him several times in the face.
The knife fell to the floor as the officer tried to subdue him and a civilian moved it away.
A second officer arrived and helped to subdue the suspect who was still resisting arrest and uttering threats.
It is believed he was under the influence of an intoxicant.
The first officer was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non life threatening injuries.
The 24 year old’s charges include assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm, assault, and carrying a concealed weapon among charges.
