A group representing 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan says it is disappointed with the premier’s reaction to plans for a new stat holiday honouring victims and survivors of Canada’s residential school system.
Scott Moe says his government wants to review the federal proposal first, including how much such a holiday would cost employers.
David Pratt, vice-chief of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, notes that the province had one of the highest rates of Indigenous children in the residential school system.
