Round-robin play continues at Bob Van Impe Stadium and Joe Gallagher Field Friday in the Canadian Women’s fastpitch-softball championship.
Saskatoon G-Force takes on the unbeaten, 4-0, Calahoo, Alberta Erins in Friday’s first game at 9:30 at B-V-I. G-Force is tied for second at 3-1 after winning both of their games Thursday. Also, Synergy is tied for fourth at 2-2 while the Lady Diamondbacks are tied for seventh at 1-3 in the nine-team round-robin…both Saskatoon teams splitting their Thursday contests.
Elsewhere on the Canadian fastpitch-softball championship round-up, the Prince Albert Astros won two of three games Thursday, but are tied for first place at 5-1 at the Under-19 Men’s event in Napanee, Ontario. The Delisle Pride split two games and are 3-3, tied for sixth while the Shellbrook Rangers lost twice and are 1-5, tied for 10th place.
Meanwhile, the Twin City Angels won twice Thursday at the National Under-16 Girls tournament in Winnipeg, leaving them tied for sixth place at 3-1. The Saskatoon Hustlers lost twice to sit at 1-3, tied for 12th place…the same as the P-A Aces who split a pair of games Thursday.
In addition, at the rain-plagued Canadian Under-14 Girls Championship in Montreal, the Prince Albert Aces are tied for 10th spot at 2-1 after splitting two games Thursday. The Saskatoon Hustlers are tied for 12th at 1-2 after a split while the Saskatoon Raiders lost their only outing to sit at 0-3, tied for 23rd place.
Meantime, a couple of Saskatoon teams saw their first action as Baseball Canada Championships got started Thursday. The Saskatoon Cubs lost 5-3 to London, Ontario at the 18-and-under Nationals in Fort McMurray, Alberta. And, the Saskatoon Cardinals were out-slugged 20-12 by Red Deer as the 13-and-under Boys National Western event got going in Brandon.
