A Saskatoon organization dedicated to providing nutritious food programs throughout the city was the big winner from SIGA’s second annual Good Food Run.
CHEP Good Food Incorporated has received a cheque for 18-thousand dollars from the June 10th event which attracted over 425 runners and walkers of all ages.
CHEP Executive Director Yvonne Hansen was overwhelmed by the fact the run raised over three times the amount of money compared to the inaugural event in 2017. Last year’s run drew 200 participants and raised five-thousand dollars.
Hansen said the donation will go a long way toward replacing their delivery truck which was lost in a fire earlier this spring in addition to ensuring the delivery of their wide variety of activities which includes community gardens and school programs.
The Good Food Run is organized by SIGA’s Long Runner’s Fitness Group which has grown dramatically from a small number of staff members who simply wanted to get some exercise.
