The Committee on Environment, Utilities and Corporate Services will be discussing the administrations recommendation that the city continue to uphold aspects of the Blue Community Draft Resolutions but not become an official Blue Community. The city currently ensures that there’s equal and adequate access to water at a reasonable cost, providing information to the public on their water supply and promoting conservation and re-use. To become an official Blue Community, the city would have to phase out and prohibit sales of bottled water at city-hosted events. Then at this afternoon’s Transportation Committee meeting, City Councillors will discuss changing various speed limits throughout the city including reducing the speed limit on Betts Avenue from 60 kph to 50 kph and that the limit on Highway 41 from College Drive to the East City Limits be reduced from 100 kph to 90 kph. The meeting gets underway at 2 p.m. at City Hall.
