A couple of RCMP Officers were hurt during an incident Wednesday afternoon. Over the noon hour, a Montreal Lake officer conducted a traffic stop in that community and was allegedly assaulted by the driver. It happened right after the officer arrested an adult female, who was in the vehicle, and had put her in the police cruiser. The officer’s injuries were minor. The suspect drove off. That started a low-speed pursuit along Highway 969. Prince Albert, Waskesiu, and La Ronge RCMP joined in the pursuit along with the Prince Albert Police Dog Section. The suspect tried to avoid a spike belt which resulted in another officer suffering minor injuries after being dragged briefly by the suspect vehicle. The driver was forced off the road and arrested. He suffered dog bites in the process. As of last night, charges had not been laid.
