Three members of the Saskatoon Blades will represent Canada during next week’s Hlinka-Gretzky Under-18 tournament in Edmonton and Red Deer.
Goaltender Nolan Maier and centre Kirby Dach made the team Wednesday following completion of the Hockey Canada selection camp in Calgary while new Bridge City Bunch head coach Mitch Love is an assistant coach for the Canadian side.
Two other Saskatchewan products will suit up for Canada…both defencemen. Braden Schneider is a Prince Albert native, via the Brandon Wheat Kings, while Kelowna Rockets blue-liner Kaeden Korczak is from Yorkton. In total, 11 of the 22 players named to Team Canada are from the W-H-L.
The tournament starts Monday. Canada will play a pre-tournament game Saturday against the Czech Republic in Red Deer and will play all their tournament games in Edmonton.
