The official opening of Planet Fitness in Market Mall was marked with a thousand dollar donation from the company to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Saskatoon. Boys and Girls Clubs CEO Wanda Desjardins says their national organization has a relationship with this fitness chain which is now branching into Canada. She points out that the relationship they have is based on values that align: providing safe supportive places, preventing bullying and positive body image.

Planet Fitness is known for its Judgement Free Zone and has a “lunk” alarm which is a purple and yellow siren on the wall used to remind people that grunting, dropping weights or judging others is not permitted. Planet Fitness partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in 2016 on an initiative called the Judgment Free Generation in an effort to combat judgement and bullying faced by teens.
This is the second outlet in Saskatchewan, with six in total in Western Canada.
