A 29 year old woman is in custody after an encounter with Saskatoon police where a taser was used. Police were called to a home in the 100 block of La Ronge Road around 1:30 this morning (tues) by provincial correctional officers who were trying to take a woman into custody. The woman had barricaded herself in her bedroom, broken a window, and armed herself with a dagger-shaped shard of glass. She then climbed out through the window and onto a first-storey roof. Police say she jumped off, trying to escape. When she landed, police say she threatened to hurt herself with the glass shard. That s when police used the conducted energy weapon to disarm her. The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for injury that was related to her jump from the roof. The CEW deployment will be reviewed as per police policy.
