It’ll be at least 2019 before Graham DeLaet is back on the P-G-A Tour…or playing competitive golf of any kind!
The Weyburn product tweeted Tuesday morning that stem cell injection treatment has failed to provide relief to damaged discs in his back. As a result, the 36-year-old, who hasn’t played competitively since last October, has decided to pursue microdiscectomy surgery on his L4-L5 discs in order to regenerate them. DeLaet pointed out in the tweet that the surgery is something he has had done before in 2011 on a different disc. He says the recovery time is 6 to 12 months and that the surgery is the best option for him now that he’s exhausted every other treatment option. Earlier this month, DeLaet was in Saskatoon for the annual Graham Slam and DeLaet Cup events at the Willows, but could not take part in any kind of golf activities. The text of DeLaet’s tweet follows…
