With the cancellation of Greyhound AND STC, The Provincial Association of Transition Houses and Services (PATHS) is wondering what will happen to their clientele. PATHS is joining up with their counterparts in BC, Alberta and Manitoba to vie for a solution to women who are trying to escape their abusers in their rural and remote communities. Jo-Anne Dusel with PATHS says she feels government is too hopeful for another organization to take over. Dusel says bus service was a common way for women to arrive at shelters after escaping their abusers. With that option removed, she’s looking for all forms of government to subsidize some sort of transportation.
