Carmont Construction has been fined a total of $80 ,000 after a workplace fatality. The Saskatoon company pleaded guilty to failing to make arrangements for the use, handling and transport of sound barrier panels in a manner that protects the health and safety of workers. The work site fatality happened on November 30, 2016, when a worker was struck by a sound panel as it slid off the deck of a trailer.
In another case, Esterhazy Ford Sales Limited was fined a total of $35,000 after an incident last August where a worker’s legs were fractured when the bay door of a shop landed on them when he was trying to close the door.
