A man who spent a week with protesters at the Regina Legislature has set up a teepee in Saskatoon’s Victoria Park.
Chris Martell says he found the Regina experience empowering after going through a difficult year with his son.
Martell says he can now talk about his experience without getting emotional and feels those going through a similar experience in the bridge city would benefit from his action.
Martell says he has applied for the necessary paperwork including a fire permit. The City’s Director of Aboriginal Relations has met with Martell.
Gillies Dorvall says he is working with him to make sure the proper protocols are in place.
Saskatoon police say a member of their cultural unit has met with Martell and no other police involvement is necessary. Police are setting up their teepee as the detachment’s BBQ Friday.
