Canada Mortgage and Housing says Housing starts in Saskatoon dropped to 96 in June from 164 in the same month a year ago. For the CMA they dropped to 131 from 198. Year-to-date there have been 509 starts in the city compared to 591 for the same period last year and 616 in the CMA compared to 745. Swift Current seems to be an outlier. It had 35 starts in the second quarter compared to 4 a year ago. And it had 35 year-to-date compared to 10 last year. Lloydminster also saw a noticeable improvement of 42 starts year-to-date compared to 33 last year.
