Battlefords RCMP say a shooting victim is now recovering in Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon after being shot early Saturday morning in North Battleford. Around 2:30 that morning, RCMP were called to Battlefords Union Hospital about someone being treated for a serious wound that appeared to be consistent with a small calibre firearm. The victim was stabilized and transferred to R-U-H. Right after that call, another came in about shots fired at an apartment in the Winder Crescent apartment block. Officers attended both locations. A suspect was identified as someone known to both the victim and others inside the apartment. 28 year old David Soonias was located and arrested. A number of firearms were seized. Soonias is to appear in Provincial Court today (mon) facing several charges including Discharge a Firearm With Intent, and Possession of a Restricted Firearm.
