Saskatchewan’s entry in the new Canadian Elite Basketball League will be known as the Rattlers.
In making the announcement Tuesday, team president Lee Genier introduced the team name, the logo…which depicts a Prairie rattlesnake…and the colour scheme of green, beige and white. The Saskatchewan Rattlers will be one of six teams starting up the C-E-B-L next May.
“It’s certainly a market that follows its sporting teams,” said C-E-B-L Chief Executive Officer Mike Morreale while explaining that coming to Saskatoon with the new league was an easy decision. “It is also big about community. That also goes for the whole province of Saskatchewan. You go anywhere in the world and you’ll find Rider jerseys somewhere or other, no matter where you may be. We hope you’ll find a (Rattlers) jersey in the near future as well.”
The Saskatchewan Rattlers will play home games at SaskTel Centre.
